I have been thinking about those of you who are spending this holiday season alone. It can happen for many reasons, so whatever your reason is, rest assured, there’s nothing wrong with that! It may, however, feel very lonely and isolating. If it does for you, I would like to encourage you to celebrate these 3 things: God, nature, and yourself. If you don’t believe in God, come up with something else.:)
Before y’all roll your eyes at me, listen up. Your mind “likes” to cling to what you don’t have. It’s normal as it’s most likely something you need and it wants you to be aware of it so you could do something to have it.
But there’s also another side to the coin. There are things we need in life but we don’t focus on them because we already have them aka we take them for granted.
When we pour some light onto those things, we allow our minds to shift focus from negative to positive, from emptiness to abundance. If we do it enough, counting our blessings becomes our habit. Try it and choose to celebrate these things you don’t usually notice.
But how do I celebrate myself? – you ask. By indulging in self-care, by enjoying your peace, by creating traditions with yourself!
Maybe now you are in the thick of healing and being alone is your only option. Well, make the most of it by doing something only YOU enjoy, even if it’s something small. Give yourself this gift of unconditional love and acceptance if you are alone this holiday season.
And if you start getting sad at some point, feel those emotions, let yourself cry if you need to, and remember: those moments bring you closer to healing and inner strength you could never even dream of.
